Paperback or Hardback: Which Type of Book Should You Print?

One of the choices that will have the biggest impact when you are printing a book is whether you will have a paperback or hardback cover. Your decision will have a significant effect on the way the book looks and feels as well as on the cost of printing them.

Hardback Books

• Are more durable than paperback books and won’t suffer from cracked spines.
• Can generate a more serious, prestigious or luxurious image.
• Provide more support for larger pages so can be ideal for coffee table books.
• Will encourage readers to keep and cherish them more.
• A popular choice for special editions or commemorative books.

Both types of cover have some important advantages that can make them a good choice for your print project. The best choice for you will depend on what you hope to achieve with your book once it is printed. It is also worthwhile remember that you can always print multiple versions of your text for different uses, just as many large publishing companies do.
